If you’ve been looking for an excuse to sport your newest pajamas out on the town then you’ll be happy to know that pajama day is growing in popularity around the world. And we couldn’t be happier about it!
On Pajama Day, you get to spend the entire day wearing your pajamas! (Not that we don’t do this anyway!) Also commonly known as “National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,” this special holiday celebrates sleepwear and gives everyone the chance to spend daylight hours in their most comfy night time attire.
For us at FeelGood, and for those of you who love to wear your pajamas in public, it means an opportunity to prove how easy it is to rock sleepwear as streetwear.
The History of Pajamas and Pajama Day
The history of the humble pajama is far more surprising than you may think. The word “pajama” comes from the Indian word “piejamah,” which was used to describe loose pants that were tied at the waist. The comfy trousers were admired by British colonials in the 17th century as the perfect thing to wear while napping in the afternoon. It wasn’t long before the outfit was deemed perfect for any time spent asleep or simply lounging around. When the Colonials returned to Britain, the trend caught on and continued to grow in popularity as the years passed.
Unfortunately, the origins of Pajama Day are still unknown, although, rumor has it that the holiday was first established over two decades ago in the United States as a way to give taxpayers a day to relax after tax day on April 15.
Whatever the reason, we’re delighted that pajamas are making their way into the working world, one day at a time.
How To Celebrate Pajama Day
Pajama Day is probably one of the easiest holidays in the world to celebrate. All you have to do is not get dressed that day and instead, spend the entire day in your comfy pajamas. Right? Wrong.
Pajama day is the perfect chance for you to rock your sleepwear as streetwear and if you love the idea of pajama day just as much as we do, you’ll be sure to celebrate it in style.
