NATURE:  Batik fabric: 100% cotton primisima for its tight weave. Our batiks come directly from our friend Ani's closet of decades-long batik collection. Batik dyes: from mix of botanical dyes and fiber-reactive dyes. Batik wax: 100% natural beeswax. Hoodie: plant dyed, handloom woven cotton.  Care Guide: cold water, hand or machine delicate wash, dry in the shade or low heat, do not dry clean as heavy chemicals mess up plant dyes.

Art of Batik: Indonesia's traditional batik is protected by UNESCO for its culture, symbolism and technique called wax-resist dyeing. Crafted over many months or years of long work, based on complexity of pattern and color. In short, artisans painstakingly draw the traditional symbolic pattern on the fabric using 'canting', a pen-like copper with melted beeswax as ink. The wax blocks the pattern during the dyeing process. When the dyed fabric is boiled, the wax comes off and the pattern is revealed. This process is repeated to achieve multiple colors.▪️Jamie's batik pattern meaning: PARANG (right) symbolize waves of life, and LASEM MERAH (left) shows the Chinese influence of flowers.
