Simplicity and functionality in a healthy and giving shirt.

For every Hannah Tree Planting shirt sold, we plant three trees. We donate $4 USD from every sale and that can buy three trees. We started this journey in January 2020 and by March 100 trees were planted in a protected jungle in Bali in collaboration with our partner Pagi Motley.

In 12 months we aim to plant 1000 from 85 shirts sold. We help not only preserve our ecosystem but also offset the carbon emissions involved in the order deliveries.

Nature

100% organic cotton: Grown without harmful chemicals, leaving the soil, air and water free from contaminates that cause harm.

100% plant dyed: Black and gray from ketapang leaf. Blue from strobilanthes cusia. Yellow from mango leaf. Blue from strobilanthes cusia. Soil from yellow and red.

Screenprint: Made in Bali using commercial screenprinting.

A Love Story of Giving

The Artwork: Hannah, 13-year-old soccer player at her school and community in New Jersey, donated the print which was her sign during the climate change rally in November 2019. We love how Hannah's message and art are so simple, punchy, and make us stop, think, and act.

The Dyeing: Plant dyeing is an age-old technique that we are obsessed to share to the world because it is beautiful and healthy. Plant dyeing is using natural dyes that are extracted from fresh plants and mixed by hand instead of synthetic chemicals made by machines. The process of harvesting, drying, mulching, and extracting the color from the plants, preparing the fabric, and the dye bathing itself (which requires a repetition of massaging, marinating and drying the fabric) take more time, effort and creativity. Results are unpredictable and affected by serendipity in climate, sunlight, water, even soil fertility and when plants were harvested. But these variances make the pieces unique and groundbreaking. Good for the health: Safer than synthetic dyes as they don't contain chemicals harmful to health. Good for the ecosystem: As plants can be regrown, they’re a renewable, low-cost source. Good for the heart: Fun and therapeutic, and has more room for artistry.

Design

  • Made for longevity so you wear it a lot or share; we see customers wearing Sari for yoga, gym, or over swimsuit in their instagram posts.
  • Featuring: Boxy V-neck front and back.
  • Size: One size. Chest: 55in * 140cm. Shirt length: 29in * 73cm. Model Gita: 5’6” feet * 170cm.
  • Care for long-lasting plant-dye: Cold hand wash or machine wash with like colors. Use eco-friendly or gentle detergent. Air dry in the shade or tumble dry low. Dry clean not recommended as natural dyes react to heavy synthetic chemicals. Plant dyed colors will fade if left in the sun for a long time and washed in hot water. Mend when torn.
